Pixi Cosmetics

This beautiful brand Pixi I first discovered last year and have been so excited to try ever since. They are available in Marks & Spencers in the UK so it should be pretty easy to get your hands on.

I don't feel I've heard much in the way of talk about this brand, so I thought for todays post it would be nice to try something new and maybe we can discover this brand together. The big question of the day though, is this brand not talked about because we are all yet to discover how amazing it is, or is there nothing special about this brand so people don't want to talk about it. Let's see shall we...

Pixi Cosmetics has a total of 11 colours in the Mattelustre range. All claiming to be full-coverage, long lasting with a plumping effect. The two colours I decided to purchase were a baby pink and coral red tone. Two very popular colours right now and both equally as beautiful.

Peach Blossom

A lovely coral red tone which is extremely pigmented. Only one coat is needed to create a beautiful full lip. When wanting to r
eapply it does go to crumble unfortunately, but I found that because the first layer works so well and lasts so long. You aren't needing to put on a second layer anyway, your lips become partly stained leaving a more natural look for hours.

I'm not 100% sold on this product, but we still have a second to try out so we shall have this as the final verdict.

Petal Pink
A baby pink tone which unfortunately isn't very pigmented, you have to really build up the layers to see the colour. Soft when applying, but not to much so that you feel it's going to slide and move out of place. The scent when applying leaves a sort of mild chemically taste when actually on your lips, which isn't the best of starts to your morning lets admit.

Another point I want to add about this product, is the fact it dries up really fast. You can forget about wanting to reapply your lipstick when out because it simply crumbles of your lips.

This packaging for me is the only good thing about this lipstick. The simple natural theme is beautiful and it wouldn't be something I'd mind carrying around with me. Just a shame about the formula itself unfortunately.

I found that even with moisturising your lips before hand, and using my lip scrub each day. It did not make the slightest bit of difference when applying. I'm hoping that this particular shade was a bad batch and I have been mislead, but it's hard to keep using Pixi after feeling my money has gone to waste.

Such a difference between the two. Overall Peach Blossom was a lovely unique tone which works well, just unfortunately the Petal Pink formula was far to drying and not something I would want to use again.

  1. Such a shame to hear about these products! I've used Pixi's little palettes before and quite liked them, but these seem like ones to miss! I absolutely hate chemical tastes when applying lipbalm so that is a big no-no! How odd that one shade was super pigmented but the other wasn't! Thank you for sharing your thoughts, Alys!

    1. It's a shame isn't it when you have high hopes for a product and then the taste ends up putting you off it altogether!
I hope I just had an off one as it's strange that the two of them were so different.

  3. Ahh you're so brave to try out a brand you've not heard much on! I get very skeptical when I've not heard of a brand so I don't try them out because I'm not sure what the outcome will be. I'm sorry to hear that these weren't the best products out there. They do look like beautiful colors! My lips tend to get very dry already so I might not be picking these up. But thank you for your honest review! :)

    1. I watched Shaaanxo test them out on your channel and she seemed to like them, but it was something she had been sent. Then when I came across them in M&S I was tempted into buying something. I wish I had saved my money now, but it's all about trial and error I guess!

At least I was able to save you some money, no worries!

    1. That's a shame to hear about the eyeshadows, I've had people say similar things about the brand Stila. Their liquid lipsticks are my ultimate go to, yet I've heard not so good things about other products by them :/
