A Winter Without Chocolate, Decaf Tea & Cosy Nights In

As we all know Christmas is right only a few weeks away, usually this would be when I start complaining. Not because I haven't done any shopping, or because it's almost over. But because until this year, I've never liked Christmas.
I'm not sure why, but this time of year has always been stuck in the negative part of my mind. If one little negative thing would happen on Christmas day, it would be all I could think about for the rest of the year.

This year, there has been so much excitement around Christmas in the City. Having only been in Cardiff a year, they definitely know how to celebrate it in style. Winter Wonderland, festive stalls and music playing all over the place. What better way to spend your evenings than walking around the city centre, with a Starbucks cup in your hand, just taking the atmosphere in.

Speaking of atmosphere, this is something I always try to embrace. It's so easy to be moving so fast in life that you forget to stop and reflect for a few seconds. How often are you walking to work, or driving and only focus on where you are going. It's important to stop, look around and take it all in. Remember, there is more to life than what you are currently doing. There is a whole other world happening around you! Stop and look at it, even for just a second.

I'm going to be honest, I'm not one of those girls who goes out with her friends every weekend, or goes out partying or drinking for fun. Let's just get that out the way now. I did all that when I was younger. I would literally spend everyday with my friends. So much so they feel like family now.

I may only be 24 now, but it feels like a lifetime ago. A typical day is spent with my other half in the evenings and making plans to see my friends each month. It works, it makes us all happy and that's the important thing. Everyone is different at the end of the day, we all have our different ways of going about our lives. It's all about accepting that and not judging others for the decisions they make.

This winter has been an especially cold one so far, so hot water bottles, decaf tea' and slipper boots (which look like your about to go hiking in the north pole) are all essentials. There is no better feeling than being wrapped up warm, surrounded by the people you love. It simply doesn't matter what kind of day you are having, a night in will cure anything. For me anyway.

Until next time.
